What is included in the price of my stay?
We include free breakfast, free bed linen, free towels, free wi-fi internet access, free printing (only booking and tickets), free use of our kitchen facilities, free luggage storage, use of lockers inside of rooms, maps, tourist information, and earplugs.

Do you accept group bookings?

Do you accept long term guests?
Guests can stay at the Walrus for a maximum of 28 days.


What is your cancelation policy?
Amendments or cancelations must be made 48 hours prior to your arrival date. In order to make a cancelation, please email us at thewalrushostel@gmail.com


Do I need to pay a deposit?
Bookings  made by e-mail or phone call are subject to a first night deposit to be made by credit or debit card via telephone +44 (0)7545589214 or we can send you a secure link (we use worldpay) for the amount requested, this can be done by email to thewalrushostel@gmail.com. Bookings made via our website will pay £1.50 and for any other booking engine (i.e hostelbookers, hostelworld) will pay a 12% to that site.  Please note that deposits paid to us are non-refundable.


Can I make a booking without a credit or debit card?
Yes. If you are outside of London you can make a booking and pay a deposit or payment via bank transfer. If you are in London, you can make a booking and pay a cash deposit in person. Please note, when making a booking in person, you must show a valid photo I.D.


Can I pay in advance?
Yes, partial or full amounts can be paid in advance via bank transfer, email (thewalrushostel@gmail.com) or telephone +44 (0) 7545589214 using a credit or debit card. You may also pay in advance with cash in person.


I have paid a deposit online, when do I pay for the rest of my booking?
Payments must be made in full upon arrival. We accept cash, credit or debit cards. You can also pay for your booking in advance via bank transfer.


I need to make a change to my booking, how can I go about doing so?
All changes and amendments to bookings must be made 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival date. You can make changes by emailing us at thewalrushostel@gmail.com. Please note that if you cancel your reservation, any deposits made to us are non-refundable.


I haven’t made a reservation in advance, do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, we take walk in guests (subject to availability) however you must be able to present a valid photo I.D. Please note, only passport or driver licence will be accepted.  We will NOT accept student cards.

What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept cash in (in GBP only) as well as credit, and debit card as payment. Payments must be made in full upon arrival. If you need to exchange your money into GPB there is a currency exchange service two minutes from the hostel.


Why do you need to see your valid  I.D upon arrival?
We check all guests I.D. upon arrival for security reasons, and to ensure that bookings are accurate, and that our guests are over the age of 18.


Can guests under the age of 18 years of age stay at the Walrus?
We will NOT accept bookings made by those under the age of 18. Guests under the age of 18 may stay in the hostel, however they must be accompanied by a parent or legally responsible guardian who is over the age of 25. Furthermore, they must stay with this parent or guardian in a privately booked dormitory.  If you have any questions, or if you will be bringing a child under the age of 18 to the hostel, please email us in advance at thewalrushostel@gmail.com

 

 

 

 

Where can we store our luggage?
We have free luggage facilities, additionally we have a locked secure area specifically for items such as laptops, cameras, tablets etc.
Are your dorms and facilities single or mixed sex?
All of our facilities and dormitories are mixed sex, apart from one 4 bed female only dormitory.

What if I arrive early than check in time?
Official check in time is 14:00. Guests who arrive early to the hostel are welcome to drop off their luggage, and will also be able to use our bathroom and kitchen facilities.


What are your reception hours?
Reception is located downstairs in the bar which is open during the following times
Monday- Wednesday: 8:00-23:00
Thursday: 8:00-00:00
Friday: 8:00-01:00
Saturday: 8:00-01:00
Sunday: 08:00-23:00



Can I smoke in the hostel?
NO. It is illegal to smoke in any part of our hostel. Guests found smoking will be asked to leave the hostel IMMEDIATELY and no refund will be given. However, we have smoking designated areas outside.


I've never stayed in a hostel before, is it safe and secure?
Yes, although London is a big city our hostel is very safe and our staff take every possible precaution to ensure it stays that way. All rooms and the front door to the hostel have a security code to enter. Additionally, we have CCTV throughout the building, lockers inside of all our rooms, and a secure room to keep expensive belongings such as laptops, cameras, tablets etc.  100% Secure!


I can see your hostel very close to Waterloo train station, is it noisy?
Our hostel is located next to Waterloo station, making us the closest hostel to the London Eye, Big Ben and a variety of other exciting landmarks. We have double glazing on all of our windows to help shut out noise, and we are happy to provide earplugs to any guests who are finding it hard to sleep. We find most guests don’t notice after a busy day exploring central London.
